Bullets aim to keep Moyale in sight
Big Bullets travel to face Airborne Rangers today, needing nothing short of a win to keep their 2014 TNM Super League leaders Moyale Barracks in sight.
To achieve that in Chitowe, the third-placed Bullets must bounce back from their Be Forward Tournament misery and scoring drought that has their strikers failing to locate the target in three consecutive games.
Three points separate Moyale from Bullets and second-positioned Blue Eagles who are not in action this weekend. Bullets finished fourth at last week’s Be Forward event in Lilongwe. Now focus should be on Chitowe Ground.
There, Airborne coach Henry Khembo, remains upbeat that his charges, lying ninth on 22 points, can escape relegation. Asedi Ayami and Stain Malata are Rangers’ key players to trouble Big Bullets.
The People’s Team veteran winger Fischer Kondowe has since called for patience with strikers Jimmy Zakazaka, Jaffalie Chande, Frazer Menyani and Mussa Manyenje.
“It is normal for strikers to go through a bad patch,” advised Kondowe, adding that scoring is the responsibility of all players on the pitch.
In Mzuzu Stadium, Moyale, powered by Gastin Simkonda and Deus Nkutu, entertain troubled Mighty Wanderers today.
Moyale is unbeaten at home in the second-round and coach Nicholas Mhango believes a first-ever title is a distinct possibility. The hosts must first find their way past inconsistent Wanderers.
“We are not getting carried away. We have some work to do, but we are getting there,” Mhango said during the week.
